Retail Therapy

Recently I have splashed the cash on the remaining seasons from Little House Needleworks samplers. I had thought about stitching them on one piece of fabric, will have to have more of a think on that one.

Arbor Update

It's a few weeks, well OK April, since you last saw photos of Autumn Arbor by The Drawn Thread. Oh how it has grown!! Still not finished but I am getting closer. I love working with the Gloriana thread, also called Autumn Arbor. I did have reservations when I saw it on the leaves in the top border but now with it on the trees it is really striking.

Drawn Thread - Souvenir Sampler Chart Giveaway

I was lucky enough to win this on a giveaway many moons ago. Now I wish to hand it on to someone who will want the pleasure of stitching this lovely chart. I warn you, you will go through moments of madness trying to decide what to stitch where.

So if any of my friends and followers would like this chart to actually stitch please leave a comment saying so. I will choose a name in a weeks time, Friday 29th June.

Wake Up!

Well here I am at last! I've been enjoying the lovely weather we had back in May, (where has it all gone now!) and the Queens Diamond Jubilee. I might be wrong but I could go AWOL again as we have Wimbledon (tennis), Royal Ascot (horse-racing), The Tour de France (cycling) ... and the little old Olympics (just about every sort under the sun!). Anyway as I'm here now I might as well show you what I've been up to, which isn't much. There has been no progress on Autumn Arbor so that will have to wait but I have kept up with my monthly ornament SAL. The month of May with the theme of 'Gingergread Person/Elf/Angel' was this:
Noel Patch 2011 - Grilles de Maryse.
32ct Belfast Linen.
Recommended threads (although I did change the heart a bit).

I got my skates on with June while I was in the mood for stitching. This one was an 'own choice' theme.

Let It Snow - Country Cottage Needleworks.
Christmas Ornaments Issue 2008.
32ct Flax Belfast Linen.
Recommended threads (omitted DMC Light Effects Floss stitching).

Into Autumn

Thought it was about time I finished the 4 seasons off from this series of The Drawn Threads' Arbors. At some point this year I want to visit the framers and I want it to be worthwhile me making the journey. I love Autumnal colours and this is just so exciting to stitch with the variagated thread colours. I haven't got too much stitched, this is about 3 weeks work!

Snowflakes

Snowflakes in April. Not too far off the truth weather-wise here in the UK. We have gone back to winter now that we've had our 4 days of summer in spring. Talk about 4 seasons in 1 day! Anyway back to the stitching. Snowflakes was the theme for this month over at the Christmas Ornaments All Year Round SAL. I can't tell you how much I love this ornament. I was so lucky in that I had enough of the thread left and to find beads that matched in my stash was an absolute bonus. Needless to say I shall be keeping this one for myself.

March SAL Ornament

I'm done and dusted for this months SAL over at the Christmas Ornaments All Year Round SAL. When I saw this ornament design from Country Cottage Needleworks I knew I would stitch it at some point but the colours just weren't my colours. I'm so pleased with this ornament ... in more ways than one!! Firstly, the colours I chose worked out OK and secondly the blood spillage is hardly recognisable. Oops. Don't ask me how, it's never happened before. Somehow when I was adding the braid, bearing in mind it had took me a week to stitch and then to assemble ornament, I managed to cut my thumb. Don't know ... let's just leave it at that! Top right corner just above the green stitching 2 spots of blood. Run to get a cloth and wet the fabric with cold water. Why couldn't it happen on the back for goodness sake! Dried it off and I don't think you can see it, I know where it's is but nobody else would. Calm ........

Papercrafting Weekend

Had a play with paper this past weekend; a birthday card and a scrapbook page.

Posted by Picasa

This scrapbook page is from last years holiday in North Yorkshire and the first time I'd been on a steam train. You wouldn't believe how many people come out of the woodwork to see a steam train pull in to a station.

A Spring Finish

Being as we are having a lovely sunny day today and has been quite warm for the time of year, I thought I would post about my recent finish. Yes ... Spring Arbor is finished. Photos aren't great I'm afraid but you get the idea of fancy stitches and beads. :) It's a shame because the Lavender Bliss linen looks lovely!

Postie Has Just Arrived

The Drawn Thread The Butterfly Garden chart has landed on my doorstep. Hoorah!! I added a few threads too, just to make it worthwhile of course. I'm really looking forward to starting this one, but it won't be yet. Still to source out the fabric and a few more silks to buy.

Christmas Trees?

I'm hoping these can be classed as Christmas Trees. As soon as I saw Carol's finish I knew I had to fit it in to the Christmas Ornaments All Year Round SAL theme. So the fir and pine trees of this Blue Ribbon Designs freebie ARE Christmas Trees!! The thread colours which are the DMC recommended ones are just lovely together and may feature in another design that I would like to change the colours of. That could be next months theme as it's 'stitchers choice'.

Spring Arbor Update

I think my trees and their blossom might perish in the snow that we are forecast later this afternoon! I hope it comes and goes before Monday morning and the journey to work.

I'm getting on reasonably well with this design. As usual I'm waiting until the end to add the beads. To be honest I can't remember if I bought ones I needed or not. Oh dear is this a senior moment! Will have to have a delve in the stash cupboard.
